- Mouthparts: These are modified for different feeding habits. There are piercing-sucking mouthparts for sucking up fluids, chewing mouthparts for eating solid food, and more.
Thorax
The thorax is the middle section of the insect's body and is responsible for locomotion. It contains:
- Legs: Insects have three pairs of legs, six in total. They can be used for walking, running, jumping, swimming, or digging.
- Wings: Not all insects have wings, but those that do have two pairs attached to the thorax. Wings can be used for flying, gliding, or balance.
